Humanity's Position Compared to Angels
Recently I read the scripture, "What is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. PSALMS NIV
This verse confused me. "How can we be “lower than angels” when Scripture also says we will one day judge angels?" This is what I found...
God is showing us the arc of our worth.
Right now, in our earthly bodies, we feel fragile, flawed, inconsistent. We feel the weight of our humanity. But even in this state, God crowns us with glory and honor. He calls us His image-bearers. He entrusts us with dominion. He names us sons and daughters.
And through Christ, our story doesn’t end at “a little lower.” It ends at elevated, restored, co-heirs, glorified, seated with Christ, and given authority beyond angels.
This is not about hierarchy, it’s about identity. It’s about a God who knew we would sin, wander, doubt, and push Him away… and still chose to elevate us.
For the person who feels worthless, invisible, or replaceable, this truth is oxygen. For the one battling shame or despair, this is a lifeline. For the one who thinks their life doesn’t matter, this is a divine interruption.
God thinks so highly of you that He rewrote eternity to bring you home.
